Acknowledgement of Mi'kmaq Territory in Nova Scotia

We humbly acknowledge the ancestral and unceded territory of Mi’kma’ki. Mi’kma’ki territory is the land of Wabanaki (People of the Dawn) Confederacy; which consists of four (4) nations; Mi’kmaw, Maliseet, Passamaquoddy and Penobscot. Mi’kma’ki is governed by the Peace and Friendship Treaties.

We recognize that African Nova Scotians are a distinct people whose histories, legacies, and contributions have enriched that part of Mi'kma'ki known as Nova Scotia for over 400 years
